Fixing a pyrography device
I was asked to have a look at a pyrography device that had gone poff when plugged in.
Broken Capacitor
Opening it up we can see that a capacitor is very dead.
What do we have here?
We could just replace the capacitor but that is no fun, let us have a look at the board.
Schematics
Looking at the board I constructed the below schematics. I'm missing values on many components as I did not have any reason to figure them out.
So basically what we have is a dimmer circut, which makes sense as the purpose is to control the temperature of the burner tip.
The coolant pump and the burner are both connected to T?, so increasing the power to the burner will also increase the power to the cooland pump.
The broken capacitor is the one labeled C1 in the schematics.
